Fire threatened to destroy the wooden roadway of the otherwise fireproof McKinley Bridge yesterday afternoon when about 100 feet of the under side of the north roadway near the center span of the bridge was scorched.
It was "good-by uniforms" and back to civilian clothes again yesterday as youths from various states finished their courses at the Citizens' Military Training Camp at Jefferson Barracks and turned in their army clothes before being checks out for their return home.

The new Tamm Avenue Bridge over the Daniel Boone Expressway was opened to traffic early Tuesday. The new structure, with two wider lanes and sidewalks, links with Wells drive opposite the Elephant House of the St. Louis Zoo. This view looks toward the Zoo.
