Charleen Shepherd wears a microphone attached to the pinafore collar of her white dress and looks slightly to her right with her chin lifted, perhaps singing during the talent competition during the Miss America Preliminary Contest for Miss Raytown 1970, Raytown, Missouri. A baby blue banner on stage behind and to the right of Charleen says, "The World Needs Love" with the word in white lettering "Love" over a circular map of Earth, North and South American view, and the words in black lettering, "The World Needs" around Earth.
