HISTORY Welcome to Jesse Hall, one of the most famous icons of Mizzou! Jesse Hall was constructed as the “New Academic Hall” in 1892 after the original Academic Hall burnt down earlier that year, leaving the Columns. However, the building was later renamed after MU president Richard Henry Jesse. The dome on the building evolved into one of the most recognized symbols of the University of Missouri, rising nine stories above Francis Quad.
Today, Jesse Hall functions as MU’s administrative center, and faculty use its auditoriums to hold key meetings and performances.
