ABSTRACT The Education Amendments of 1984 amended the Adult Education Act, extend- ing it through FY 1988, with $140 million authorized for FY 1985. The 1984 amendments gave the States increased flexibility regarding advisory councils, but data reporting requirements were increased. The provision of programs to benefit educationally disadvantaged adults remains the basic program purpose.
