The first courthouse of Jackson County in Missouri that is constructed of logs and stone. A sign on the roof edge states, "FIRST COURT HOUSE of JACKSON COUNTY. BUILT 1827." Sign under the eve states, "COMMUNITY WELFARE." The building has two front doors, one window to the right of the right-hand door, six front posts, a cross-bar wooden fence along the roof line, and a stone chimney at each end.
