Ayer and Lord Marine Ways at Paducah, Kentucky, have specialized in the building and repairing of all types of river craft for more than twenty years. Twelve cradles are available; length of space is about 800 feet. As many as seven boats have been on the ways at one time. Boats up to 1200 tons weight can be accomdated. The woodworking ship including equipment for fabrication of all parts needed in the construction or repair of wooden vessels. A large stock of seasoned timber and an assortment of lumber is kept on hand. Metal working facilities include all shears, forming presses, flame cutting, welding, and riveting equipment for repairs on steel boats and barges. All types of wooden boats and barges can be completely constructed and repairs to either wooden or steel boats or barges can be made on their ways.
