Kenna was the first boat built outright for the Ohio River Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, having been constructed in 1926 by the Chas. Ward Engineering Works, Charleston, West Virginia. In 1936 the Kenna was placed on the ways of the Dravo Corporation, Pittsburgh, to be cut in half, pulled apart, and twenty feet added to the length of her hull and cabin. She is now 171.2 feet long, 32.1 feet beam and seven feet depth of hold. She has condensing engines, 15's - 30's with a 7-foot stroke; 4 return flue boilers. She's a coal burner of 700 horse power. The Ohio River Company have offices at Cincinnati, Ohio, and Huntington, West Virginia. They specialize in freighting coal and other commodities and towing of craft of all kinds on the Ohio River. They also furnish steamboat coal at Huntington, Cincinnati and Addyston, Ohio.
