St. Louis Browns' president Don Barnes congratulates Mike Kreevich, one of the heroes, after the St. Louis team clinched the American League pennant in 1944 by beating the Yankees, 5-2, at Sportsmans Park. Between them, without shirt, is pitcher Sig Jakucki who was the winning pitcher. Next to Barnes is manager Luke Sewell and next to him is bat boy Bobby Scanlon. Others at right beyond Kreevich are pitcher Tex Shirley, Vern Stephens and Al Hollingsworth. Waving in background is coach Zack Taylor and next to him, with the big smile, is coach Fred Hofmann. Between Barnes and Jakucki is infielder Ellis Clary.
