Description: Side-wheel excursion boat Alton on river. Most days, this steamer ran St. Louis to Six-Mile Island on the Illinois River, stopping both ways at Alton and Chautauqua. One day a week she ran St. Louis to Kampsville, Illinois. Daily evening trips were run at St. Louis. Fourteen governors rode the Alton during the "Roosevelt Parade" in October 1907. (President Theodore Roosevelt rode the Mississippi.)
