"The old Coliseum at Washington boulevard and Jefferson avenue, the scene of many of the city's historic events, has been condemned by the City Building Commissioner. Under the notice of condemnation, the building either must be torn down or repaired and put in a safe condition." "Demolition of the Coliseum at Washington boulevard and Jefferson avenue, once St. Louis' most imposing building, will begin in about 10 days. Standing empty for nearly three years, and showing the ravages of time, the structure has become an eyesore."
