"Sverdrup Corp. announced that construction will begin immediately on a new 170,000-square-foot office complex and 510-car garage in a two-block area immediately east and north of its world headquarters at 800 N. 12th Blvd. The cost of the project is expected to be $8 million to $9 million. The new structures will be separated by a park-like area, occupying part of what formerly was Martin Luther King Drive. The open area is necessary to avoid disruption of a Union Electric steam line and costly public utilities. The area will be further beautified by construction of INTERCO Plaza in an open area just north of the present Sverdrup headquarters."
