The Rising Mississippi River, which climbed 5.9 feet overnight, left the gangplanks to the floating dock of the S.S. Admiral, tied up at the foot of Washington avenue, out in the river. Workmen are shown as they stretched a hand rope yesterday along a temporary extension set up between one of the gangplanks and the levee. Heavy rains north of St. Louis were responsible for the fast rise. Picture made on riverfront. Workmen from streamer Admiral putting extension on landing dock as river rises.
