Activity along the St. Louis levee---steamboats of the old & new vintage ply in and out of the harbor. The golden days of the steamboat era had long passed when this picture was taken on the levee in the late 1920s. An old paddlewheeler can be seen tied up in the foreground while a magnificent excursion steamer moves by in mid-stream Large Luxury steamboats like this, the Queen St. Paul, offered leisurely travel in an elegant atmosphere.
