"Pitching and catching candidates for the 1939 Cardinal club in training at St. Petersburg, Fla., are shown in these photos. At top are the pitchers, from the left, Curt Davis, Bob Weiland, Bill McGee, Lon Warneke, Paul Dean, Clyde Shoun, Lee Sherrill, Bob Bowman, Ken Raffensberger, Morton Cooper, and Tom Sunkel. The catchers are, from the left, Sam Narron, Herb Bremer and Charles Zachritz, who is on the roster of Fostoria, Ohio, a Cardinal farm. Zachritz played baseball at Ben Blewett High School here. Other catchers on the roster who are working out are Don Padgett and Herman Franks."
