Special Dispatch to the Globe-Democrat. CHICAGO, ILL.,June 29.—There will be an- other grand Communistic procession and pic- nic to-morrow, in which all of the trades unions are expected to take part. Dennis Kearney, the well-known California Socialist, wiilspeak at the picnic. The military and pcfleewillbe armelldav - under . the New York hotel and restaurant. On the second floor, corner, was Jas. A. Foster's ar- tificial limb factory. The remainder of the building was divided into Ofiices. among the Occupants being S. H. Culver, E. H. Jones, M. R. Cullen, Harris & Joy, attorneys; J. John- son, short-hand reporter; C. N. Dry, 1loto- engraving; James Stewart, architect; an Boat- right’s Detective Agency. The loss to all the Occupants who were immediately under the water supply will not exceed $150. Though an immense quantity of water was thrown, sufficient to deluge a dozen buildings of this size, Capt. Evans, of the Salvage Corps, employed an extra force and had it conducted down the stairways, thereby preventing a soaking of the building. No doubt the salvation of the building is due in part to the fact that the floors of the building are of cement, and, therefore, in a measure, fire-proof. There was a cement floor immedi- ately below that portion of the dome that was on fire, yet the fire did not succeed in getting through it. The tower may be pronounced a total wreck, for though much remains of it, its iron girders and columns are warped and bent, " and therefore render it unsafe. Loss AND INSURANCE. The loss is estimated at from $6,000 to $7,000. The total insurance on the building, placed by Messrs. Carroll&Powel1, amounts to $90,000, and on plate glass $2,500, distributed as follows: Ins.
