"Leaders of winning clubs in the 1971 Globe-Democrat Leadership Awards, presented annually by this newspaper for community service by clubs of the Eighth District, Missouri Federation of Women's Clubs, are, from left: Mrs. William R. Schuman, Athenian Club of Wentzville, first, for fund-raising activities to support project of the St. Charles County Society for Crippled Children and Adults; Mrs. John Witt, Wednesday Club of Eureka, second, for summer entertainment programs for youth; Mrs. Harold Caby, representing Mrs. David Bruhn, Joachim Study Club of Herculaneum, third, community Christmas program."
