Sculptor Simon Ybarra's concept of a planning firm's activities is depicted in this imaginative steel and copper welded sculpture, 10-feet high, which was recently erected in front of Harland Bartolomew and Associates' home office building at 165 North Meramec ave. in Clayton. The figures illustrate surveying, data recording, drafting and designing. The sculpture was commissioned in observance of the firm's 50th anniversary.

But Walker insisted Harris had told him the recommendation would be followed. "We shook hands on it. He's a liar. He's reneged. He double-crossed us," Walker said, adding that the only way the men would return to duty is if Dimetre is reinstated.

Hazelwood firemen remained off the job after a Sunday morning meeting between city and union officials failed to resolve a dispute stemming from the dismissals of two firefighters.
Both sides offered compromises to end the strike which began Saturday afternoon, but both suggestions were rejected.
Through the first day of the strike, the substitute fire department devised by Hazelwood officials went untested although several false alarms were received. Police reported no incidents involving pickets by strikers.
City Manager Steven J. Harris said he offered to forego disciplinary action against the striking firemen if they would return to work, but that bid was rejected by Richard T. Walker, president of Local 398 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Clayton Home to Keep Flavor Despite Sale - With antique afficionados and neighbors in attendance, one of Clayton's fine turn-of-the-century homes went on the auction block Sept. 22. The white frame house at 136 Linden Ave., owned by the late Katherine Keiser, contained many turn-of-the-century furnishings. She had occupied the house for about 60 years.
Improperly Treated Sewage in Ballwin flows from a sewer pipe at the right , mixing with clear water at the left. Missouri Conservation Agent Dennis Connor said this week that the darker water in the foreground indicates improperly treated sewage. He said that pollution in the Ballwin area has prompted him to notify the State Water Pollution Board.

Developers of the Kendlewood Apartments, a 138 unit complex under construction in Black Jack MO. will "consider the city's wishes" on prospective tenants at a meeting with city representatives. Development took place at Jamestown and Parker roads.
Clayton Office Building Construction Heralded - Construction of six new office buildings in Clayton - the first office construction since 1974, was heralded Wednesday by the release of 1,311 balloons bearing the words "Move to Clayton". Cost of the six buildings totals $139.5 million. Construction has begun on four, with the last scheduled to open by fall 1984.
