Branneky's first hardware store in Bridgeton was operated as a one room general grocery and feed store by Charles C. Branneky in the 1800s. Three generations of the same family have continued hardware sales at the same location. The most recent store burned out in January, but will reopen in the fall or early December.
Ronald Droney's house at 3226 Chaucer Ave. was a perfect spot for Breckenridge Hills residents to talk about flooding and property loss with a representative from the Metropolitan Sewer District. Brentwood Recreation Complex, 2505 Brentwood bl., will open the doors to its community center facilities by mid-January. The ice rink facilities at the complex have been open since mid November.
The multi-purpose room of the new community center at the Brentwood Recreation Complex offers a view of skaters on the enclosed ice rink. The room will have kitchen facilities and will be available for programs, classes, and social functions.
The future may bring office buildings into this residential area in Brentwood. City officials are considering rezoning 22 residential properties on the east side of Collier Avenue to open the area to commercial development.
