Members of the Davis Cup tennis team pose proudly with President Johnson and the famous trophy they returned to the United States with their victory in Australia. "More than 200 guest crowded the Governor Hotel in Jefferson City for the first of biennial dinners in honor of outstanding legislators. The Globe-Democrat along with the Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions and Optimists Clubs of Jefferson City sponsored the dinner. Legislative, business, educational and civic leaders were among the guests."

Sterling silver plates were presented to each recipient in addtion to the certificates. Each plate was inscribed with the name of the winner and the category in which he was recognized.
