Here’s a SeIf—Propelled Vehicle designed to conserve energy and provide economical, reliable, high speed rail passenger service through the year 2000. We call it: SPV-2000. It is the successor to Budd’s self- powered RDC (Rail Diesel Car) design of the 1950s from which 400 cars were built with many still operating today in various parts of the United States, Canada and abroad. The old RDC has a s'r.Lou1s ‘ track record to date of more than 200 mzkmmlw unmm , , _ ml//lOl'l accumulated miles. UNIVERSIW 0! SP V-2000 cars are double-ended with controls at each end. They can be operated singly or in trains of up to ten cars. They are readily adapted to almost any kind of rail passenger service, including: - Commuter service where the size of the train varies with passenger demand and where there is a need for economical off-peak service. 0 High-speed, inter—city service. 0 Service to a metropolitan airport. 0 Branch line operation where the train can be split at a junction to serve two or more lines. - Expanding service on existing rights of way at minimum cost without electrification.
