"Rehearsing for tomorrow night are these participants in the Globe-Democrat's outdoor Christmas Choral Festival to be held in the Memorial Plaza. Benno Seymour, center front, band director for the Festival, leads soprano soloist Maureen Walsh and the Ludwig College of Music's male chorus through one of the numbers. "Fast friends were these two members of Archbishop Ritter's Pontifical Boys Choir and the live donkey which will be used in one of the tableaux scenes of tonights Christmas Choral Pageant. The boys, Terence O'Toole, 8, (left) and John Watson, 8 , struck up the friendship at last night's rehearsal at Kiel Auditorium. The amiable donkey, named Suzie, was provided by Charles W. John Walters directs the 58-voice interdenominational group which has sung at Baptist Churches up to 1000 miles away from St. Louis, and sang in the Pageant's Massed Chorus last year."

"The Missouri Baptist Hospital Nurses' Choir set the stage for the opening of the Choral Pageant signing Christmas carols. The choir was directed by John Walters. The Nurses' Choir provided the background for the Scottish Rife Choir in the opening choral number, "Behold! The Days Come!".
"The Harmoneers, directed by Garland Perry, sang "Caron of the Bells,' 'O Rock in Jerusalem' and 'Go Tell It to the Mountains,' in voices that rang clearly.

"Another school group joining in the Pageant's Massed Chorus, will be the 50-voice choir from Douglass High School, in Webster Groves. The director is Alber C. Shaw. The Massed Chorus will sing several selections from Handel's beautiful "Messiah." These will be woven through the Pageant, which will tell in miusic and tableaux, the beloved story of the Birth of Christ."
