Title: B-1 John W. Barriger III Collection

Description: The working library of noted railroad executive John W. Barriger III (1899-1976) was acquired in 1982, the generous donation of his family. Widely recognized as one of the twentieth century's best-known and most distinguished railroad executives, Mr. Barriger was also an avid scholar, book collector, and photographer. His collection of books, papers, photographs, and memorabilia - collected over an active career of 50 years - forms the nucleus of the Library's railroad collections, one of the largest rail transportation collections in the world.

Description: White bumper sticker with blue text reading "Remember October 9". This is a reference to a speech then-presidential candidate Richard Nixon made on October 9, 1968 in which he stated "Any man who has had a chance for four years and could not produce peace, should not be given another chance." Nixon went on to be elected president but did not end the Vietnam War. This saying went on to become a slogan for Vietnam War protestors.

Title: "Young Voters for the President" Poster

Description: 11 inches by 8 1/2 inches white and brown brochure for Richard Nixon's reelection campaign. The cover of the brochure has an image of Richard Nixon and the words in white, "young voters FOR THE PRESIDENT". The "young" and "voters" cross each other and use the same "o". When opened, there is a photograph of Richard Nixon meeting young supporters across both pages. Underneath the photograph is a quote detailing how that for 18-21 year olds they are first time eligible voters and claims they support Richard Nixon. When unfolded the first time there is a section devoted to the accomplishments of Richard Nixon's first term with respect to issues important to the youth vote. Along both sides are photographs of Richard Nixon. When completely unfolded, there is a poster of Richard Nixon.

Description: 8 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches White brochure with black and white writing. The cover is a photo of three people, two men and one woman, looking up and to the right. There are white letters spelling "IS ANYONE LISTENING? DOES ANYONE GIVE A DAMN?" The brochure has seven pages which provide details on President Richard Nixon's accomplishments or goals with regard to the youth vote. The categories of the brochure are "National Priorities", "The War", "Foreign Policy", "The Draft", "Environmental Quality", "18 Year Old Vote", "Drugs", and "Volunteerism". The back page of the brochure ends with a quote from Richard Nixon.

Title: George McGovern's New Look At The Military Brochure

Description: 8 1/2 inches by 3 5/8 inches red and white brochure with and red image of a missile launch with white letters at the top spelling "George McGovern's New Look At The Military". There are five pages including the back cover page that deal with how McGovern would act differently about military matters compared to Richard Nixon. The issue brought up is the large military budget asked for by President Nixon and what is attained through the budget. After laying out Nixon's position the brochure then describes McGovern's position as compared against and which starts with the title of "REALISTIC DEFENSE". At the bottom of the back cover page there are black letters spelling "Prepared as a service to the McGovern for President campaign by sane, a citizens' organization for a sane world, 318 Massachusetts Avenue, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002. Edward U. Condon and Seymour Melman, Co-Chairmen, Sanford Gottlieb, Executive Director". The first "sane" is in larger print and in red.
