Preparations for The Globe-Democrat's fifth annual Modern Living Show, which opens Tuesday, are rushed to completion in Kiel Auditorium. Arranging a cake display is Mrs. James Noble of the Favorite Bakery.

At Modern Living Show, proceeds from the cakes which were provided by the Master Baker's Association, and were auctioned to the highest bidder, were presented to the St. Louis Crippled Children's Hospital. Miss Lillian Clever, volunteer auctioneer, whose father is a member of the Masters Baker's Association, presents a check to George Carson, who represented the Crippled Children's Hospital. Judged tops in the Residential Unlimited Cost classification was the home of Russell Losing Sr.... Mr. Losing will be awarded a 12-inch Paul Revere bowl in recognition of his artistic achievement.
Ingenuity and hard work combined with clever lighting effects produced a winner for Jim Weber... in the Residential Class with a $50 limit in The Globe-Democrat Outdoor Christmas Lighting Contest. An engraved Paul Revere bowl will be presented as first prize.
Outdoor Lighting Awards are displayed by Miss Karen Hennelly of The Globe-Democrat circulation department. Engraved Paul Revere bowls will be presented to the winners and runners-up in classes 1, 2, 3 and 5, while engraved plaques go to the winners and runners-up in classes 4 and 6.
