This collection contains two letters written by the New York fur trade executive John Jacob Astor to Charles Gratiot of St. Louis in July of 1811 and to Anthony Charles Cazenove in July of 1813. Both have been transcribed.
FALSTAFF BREWING Corp has closed its office at 5050 Oakland Ave., following the financial takeover of the corporation last April by Californian Paul Kalmanovitz. Shortly after Kalmanovitz gained control of the St. Louis-based brewing corporation, the headquarters was transferred to California, a number of executives were either transferred or let go, and a few personnel were moved to the St. Louis brewery on Shenandoah Avenue. On Tuesday, the building itself was closed and Falstaff is seeking a lesee for the furnished property.
The Proctor and Gamble yearly picnic in Blanchette Park, August, 1952. Here, women are participating in a game where the objective was to collect Proctor and Gamble products in their skirts. 1830s map of German and American homes in the area east of Belleville, Illinois published in the German language newspaper Das Westland. The title translates to "Planning Map of the German Settlement: in St. Clair County Illinois, east of Belleville." It was published in Volume 1, Number 3 of Das Westland by the publishing company of Joseph Engelmann in Heidelberg. The map features the family
