Flyer scoring thrust thwarted in first-period action at last night's game with Syracuse at the Arena. The Warriors' goalie, Gordie Bell, makes a neat save as Guyle Fielder (left) and Motto McLean (8) of the Airmen swoop down on the visitors' net. Other Warriors in the photo are George Milligan (3), former Flyer; Gordon Tottle (5) and Sam Casonato (9).
The Flyers' rookie line above is the highest scoring trio in the league and one puck among them is worry enough for opposing net men. From left, they're Motto McLean, Guyle Fielder and Marcel Bonin.
Shaking up the Hornets' nest is the Flyers' Steve Hyrmnak (far right). He's reducing flying speed as the disk slants by Pittsburgh goalie Gil Mayer and into the nets last night at the Arena. Hyrmnak had the pleasure of making the Flyers' first goal on home ice in the first period.

Broadside with white and orange background and black text that reads "Don't let this happen to YOU! VOTE for IKE!" with an image of the bottom of a shoe with a hole in its sole. The shoe with the hole belonged to Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower's opponent, Adlai Stevenson II, who was photographed on the campaign trail with a hole in his shoe. Stevenson considered the image a sign of his frugal nature, but opponents used it as a symbol of his inability to care for himself, much less for a country.
