Rookie First Baseman Tom Alston slides home on the pay-off end of a double steal in the third inning of yesterday's game with the Baltimore Orioles at Busch Stadium. Umpire Bill Jackowski spreads his arms in the "safe" gesture, while Catcher Clint Courtney can't even make a tag. While Alston stole home, Alex Grammas pilfered second. Alston, with two thefts, led the Birds who stole a total of six and walloped the former Browns, 8-3.
