"Ralph E. Bond, a navy reserve hospital corpsman and plumbing contractor from Columbia, Mo., has received the 1979 Richard H. Amberg Award for outstanding service to the St. Louis Naval Reserve Unit. The award, named in honor of the late publisher of the Globe-Democrat, goes annually to the reservist who has made the greatest contribution to the mission of the Naval Reserve."

"The federal government spent a good deal of money recently to build a wheelchair ramp for handicapped persons at the Federal Building-but for security reasons the door at the top of the ramp has been locked. The frustration will end soon."
