"Hazard for Playing Children: These vacant buildings in the 4200 block of DeTonty street are of concern to city building officials because they are next to the Mullanphy School playground and are being used by children at play. The two buildings have been partially wrecked by the State Highway Department in preparation for construction of Insterstate 44."
"A 10-foot section of the wall of this three-story brick tenement at Twenty-third and Cole streets collapsed to the sidewalk yesterday. A witness reported seeing one man run from the building and then return to free a companion from the rubble. Both men then fled before police and firemen arrived. The building was being razed to make way for a new school."
