Globe to start afternoon paper--Jeff and Debbie Gluck announce plans to start publishing a new afternoon newspaper in St. Louis. The paper will be a separtate paper from the globe with a new name and format to be decided. It should publication in 3 weeks.

Winners of a circulation increase contest among the newspaper carriers of The Globe-Democrat were bound for Las Vegas and a threeday holiday when they took of from Lambert St. Louis International Airport Saturday. THe contest ran from last December through last March. Each month, three winners in five circulation categories received cash prizes or a South African gold Krugerrand (coin). At the contest's finish, the five top circulation competitors were announced and awarded the trip that included three days and two nights at the Aladdin Hotel for two. The winners and their wives, who accompanied them are: Mr. and Mrs. George F. McGinley, of 6664 Kenwood Dr., Normand; Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Marshall, of 7401 Arlington Dr., Richmond Heights; Mr. and Mrs. Patrick W. Ryan, of 4908 Orange Blossom Ct., Hazelwood; Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Brauch, of 2145 Pearl Dr., Arnold, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Haas, of 9 Floral Dr., Belleville. Doyle Heaman, home deliver manager, and his wife also went on the trip. Winner Robert E. Marshall described his feelings before the trip, saying: "We're very excited. I'm looking forward to having a wonderful time, seeing some shows and seeing how many my luck is."
