After the 1959 tornado, with walls sliced away, homes in multiple-family dwellings in the 3800 block of Evans Avenue are revealed in cross section. The buildings were badly damaged, their contects largely intact.

This collection consists of four photographs which document the damage inflicted by the 1896 tornado which hit Saint Louis, Missouri on May 27, 1896. Although the date listed on each of the photographs is consistent with the date of the storm, the photographs may have been taken at a later date. Other photographs documenting the storm damage show a greater amount of debris than is visible in
Towering precariously was the corner of the old Musical Arts Building on the southwest corner of Boyle avenue and Olive street. Much of the third floor was destroyed by the twister, which struck the intersection with its full force.
