"Two elderly men were critically injured and about 30 people were evacuated from their homes in the San Luis Apartments, 4483 Lindell Blvd., when a two-alarm fire broke out on the 11th floor of the senior citizen's residence Thursday night. The residents - some semi-invalids - were rousted by firefighters from their 10th and 11th floor apartments in the center tower of the 266-unit, E-shaped structure. Bruce Harold, 84, in whose apartment the fire started, suffered from burns and smoke inhalation, and Harry Hoppman, 82, suffered from smoke inhalation, authorities said. Both were in critical condition at Barnes Hospital Thursday night. The First Alarm sounded at 8:10 p.m., and the fire was under control in about 40 minutes. The fire was confined to Harold's apartment, which was extensively damaged, while nearby units recieved only water and smoke damage, authorities said."
